
Taylor Athletics Has All 18 Programs Earn Scholar-Team Recognition

UPLAND, Ind. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics recently announced its list of 2022-2023 Scholar-Teams, with Taylor having each of its varsity athletic teams earn the honor after posting a combined grade-point average of 3.0 and above for the 11th-straight year.
Taylor was one of six institutions from the NAIA with at least 18 Scholar-Teams to place each of their offered varsity sports on the list. The Trojans joined Baker (24), Northwestern (21), Olivet Nazarene (21), Idaho (20) and Dordt (19) on that list.
TU also ranked among the NAIA's best with 17 of its teams posting a combined GPA of 3.30 and above. Only Midland and Morningside had more, with each school posting 18 teams with a 3.30 GPA or higher.
Of the schools to see all of their teams earn NAIA Scholar-Team honors, only Taylor and Dordt had at least 17 teams with combined grade-point averages at the 3.30 mark and above.
Taylor saw its competitive cheer and football programs post the top team GPA for those sports in the NAIA, while baseball, women's soccer and men's outdoor track also posted top-five marks in their respective sport. In all, TU had 12 teams finish with a top-25 GPA in their respective sports.
Looking even closer, the Trojans placed three programs inside the top-125 teams in the NAIA regardless of sport, with competitive cheer leading the way at 52nd, women's soccer at 70th and women's cross country at 125th.
