UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor University women's tennis standout Molly Fletchall was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District II College Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) last Thursday.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District Award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom as well as on the field or court of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status academically and have participated in over half of the team's competitions during the current season.
Student-athletes are nominated for the award by their institution's sports information director and voted on by CoSIDA members from around the nation.
Fletchall landed on the 10-member district team that is comprised of three tennis athletes, three lacrosse athletes, two golfers and two swimmers.
This marks the second consecutive all-district nod for Fletchall who was honored in the 2016-17 season following her sophomore campaign. The junior holds a 3.94 grade-point average and is majoring in communications. The Carmel, Indiana, native tallied a season record of 12-9 playing number one singles for the Trojans while also going 11-11 in number one doubles play.
Fletchall brings Taylor's total number of CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees up to 28 for the 2017-2018 school year. She will now be placed on the national ballot for the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on June 11th.
