Three Trojans Earn Academic All-District Honors

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor University men's soccer had three players in Josh Beachler, Tim Daniels, and Devin Moore recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District II First-Team, as voted on and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the field of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status academically and have participated in over half of the team's competitions during the current season.
Beachler is a junior defender from Elgin, Illinois, where he attended Westminster Christian High School. Majoring in finance at Taylor, Beachler holds an impressive grade-point average of 3.89.
On the soccer field Beachler has been a steady asset for Taylor, who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top-25 poll. The Trojans are conceding just 1.17 goals-against per contest, which is the third lowest mark in the Crossroads League.
Daniels, a team-captain, is a senior midfielder from Wheaton, Illinois where he attended Wheaton Academy. Studying exercise science at Taylor, Daniels has excelled with a 3.55 grade-point average. In 2013 Daniels was named to the Academic All-Crossroads League team and was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. On the field of play, Daniels recently was named a First Team All-Crossroads League performer and has made big contributions in the midfield for Taylor with eight goals and six assists on the season.
Moore has served as a team captain for Taylor for three years. The defensive-minded central midfielder is from West Chicago, Illinois and attended Wheaton Academy. Studying computer science systems at Taylor, Moore has maintained a 3.85 grade-point average and was named Academic All-Crossroads League and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2013. Moore was recently named the Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Year for his work this season and earned First Team All-Crossroads League honors.
The three will now be placed on the national ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America Team, which will be voted on and announced on November 20.
