JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League announced its selections for the 2022 Men's Soccer All-League awards Monday afternoon, in which a pair of Taylor seniors were honored. James McBride took home First-Team All-Crossroads League honors, while Sawyer Watterson was named Honorable Mention All-Crossroads League.
McBride continued to impress during his senior year at TU collecting First-team All-Crossroads League honors after being named Honorable Mention All-Crossroads League last season. McBride started all 19 matches for the Trojans at center back. The senior defender was monumental in securing five shutouts on the season, commanding, and controlling the defense. The Houston, Texas, native has started 63 matches in his TU career, which has spanned five seasons.
Watterson was named Honorable Mention All-Crossroads League for the first time in his career after an incredible senior campaign. The Parma, Mich. native fired in four goals and provided two assists for the Trojans, both of which led the team. Two of Watterson's goals were game-winners, including an 89th-minute goal to beat Point Park 1-0 on September 5th. Watterson has started 35 of 36 games in his two years at Taylor.
McBride and Watterson helped lead the team to a fifth-place finish in the Crossroads League and secure Coach Ross' 150th victory at Taylor against Saint Francis in the final regular season match of the year.
