UPLAND, Ind. – The TU men's tennis team made quick work of Bethel University on Saturday by blanking the Pilots 7-0 on the way to their first league win of the season.
Taylor (2-1, 1-1) dominated over the course of the match, surrendering no more than four games in any singles set on their way to a perfect 7-0 final. In doubles, Salvador Lo Cascio and David Sandi turned in the most lopsided victory with a 6-1 final in the No. 2 slot. Both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles weren't far behind with 6-2 final decisions in both contests.
Chase Bremner had a standout performance in singles action by blanking BU opponent Evan Roth 6-0, 6-0. Sandi, a freshman playing in the No. 1 singles slot, also had a strong outing, which earned him his first collegiate singles victory. Christen Jacquottet and Andre Danelli picked up wins by identical 6-2, 6-2 tallies while Victor Cheng and Lo Cascio also nabbed victories, securing the 7-0 sweep.
"We had a great performance all the way through the lineup today," praised Coach Don Taylor. "Sometimes after a big win like we had against LTU, coaches are a little fearful of a letdown, but we didn't have that today. I think we are building some momentum, and hopefully, we will keep it going."
The Trojans will return to action on Wednesday when they make the trek over to Mount Vernon, Ohio, to face the MVNU Cougars. Wednesday's match is slated for 3:00 p.m.
