TU Earns Road Win Over Spring Arbor
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The TU women's tennis team made the trip up to Spring Arbor, Michigan, on Tuesday to face the Cougars of SAU and came home with their fifth win of the 2019 season. Taylor (5-3, 3-2) has won five of their last six matches dating back to August 30th.
TU picked up the important doubles point as the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles tandems scored victories with final tallies of 6-4 and 6-3, respectively.
Spring Arbor rallied with back-to-back wins in singles to put TU behind the eight ball, needing to win three of the final four matches. Kiersten Martin on the No. 4 singles court was the first to secure a singles win, which she did in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Teammate Lauryn Riegsecker followed suit by landing a 6-2, 6-3 win in No. 3 singles. With a slim 3-2 lead, Taylor was able to seal the deal with Molly Pile's 7-5, 6-1 victory in the No. 5 position.
"Our team showed incredible resilience today," praised Coach Jon Wegener. "I was excited to see how tough we could be on the road, and I was able to get a glimpse of it today. We will get some rest and be ready for another tough match on Thursday."
The Trojans will make the trip to Winona Lake on Thursday to face the Lancers of Grace College.
