Grace Tops TU Women's Tennis
WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Taylor women's tennis team moves to 5-4 on the season on Thursday following their 6-1 loss to Crossroads League foe Grace College.
The Trojans (5-4, 3-3) were able to secure a win with rookie Lauryn Riegsecker winning in the No. 2 singles slot. Riegsecker dropped the opening set 6-1 but would not be denied. The freshman battled back to win sets two and three 6-4, 6-4 to nab the win. TU produced a few additional close matches, but none of which fell in TU's favor.
TU also lost the doubles point after falling in all three matches.
"We knew today would be a test for us," said Coach Jon Wegener. "The match was much closer than the overall score. I was very pleased of how the ladies performed in singles. These ladies continue to give their all day in and day out. We fell short to a well-coached Grace team today but am looking forward to hopefully meeting them again in the postseason. We're ready to finish off a string of away matches on Saturday. We're looking forward to it!"
TU will break from league action on Saturday and make the trip to Cedarville University to face the Yellow Jackets.
