UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor women's tennis team landed their sixth win of their fall campaign after picking up a resounding 6-1 win over St. Francis on Tuesday. The Trojans (6-5, 4-3) are now above .500 overall and inside league play.
TU owned all three doubles matches, winning 6-1, 6-4 and 6-2, respectively. With the doubles point in hand, the Trojans moved to singles play where they were equally impressive.
Taylor won all five matches that were played to completion, falling only in No. 2 singles. Katelyn Gray and Molly Pile both had strong showings on their respective courts, winning both the No. 1 and No. 5 matchups in straight sets. Lydia Browning also landed a two-set victory that saw the sophomore win a closely contested first set followed by a dominant sweep in the second set.
"I'm very pleased with our performance today," praised Coach Jon Wegener. "It was a great rebound after a long week last week. We get to take a break from the dual matches this weekend as we compete in the NAIA ITA Regional Tournament hosted at IWU. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of great tennis there."
Taylor will now turn their attention to the ITA Regionals which will be played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
