Women's Tennis Falls to Foresters
UPLAND, Ind. – The TU women's tennis team moves to 7-6 on the season and 5-4 in league play after falling on senior day to Huntington 5-2. The Trojans finish in fifth place in the Crossroads League standings and will have a rematch with the Foresters, who finished fourth, in the opening round of the league postseason tournament.
The Foresters had a quick start to the contest, winning all three doubles matches and earning the team point for doubles play.
Taylor was able to land two wins in singles thanks to the play of Molly Pile and Lydia Browning on courts No. 5 and No.6. However, the top of TU's lineup struggled, falling in straight sets in positions one through four. Pile's win came in two straight sets 6-2, 6-4 while Browning battled her way to a victory in a three-set contest.
"It was a tough match today," said Coach Jon Wegener. "We knew Huntington would bring a good team, and it would be important to get a good start in doubles. They were able to jump out to an early lead, and we weren't quite able to close the gap. I'm proud of the ladies who finished strong in singles. We'll look to rebound this Saturday."
TU will close the fall regular season schedule on Saturday with a non-league matchup against Indiana Tech.
