
VanderWall Smashes Program Record at Fighting Chance Invite
JOLIET, Ill. – Noel VanderWall continued a terrific Outdoor campaign by smashing her own program record in the 1,500-meters at the Fighting Chance Invite in Joliet, Illinois.
The Trojans had a pair of competitors on Friday, including the aforementioned VanderWall. The sensational sophomore clocked a time of 4:28.32, five seconds faster than her own record set a week early at the Crossroads League Championships.
Sam Patterson also competed on Friday in the 5,000-meters and recorded a time of 17:41.80, just seconds away from her season best.
A trio of athletes took the track for the 800-meters on Saturday, with Abby Mays leading the pack, with a time of 2:18.21, followed by Olivia Jeanette and Addie Draper with times of 2:19.57 and 2:28.17, respectively.
Rebekah Firestone capped the weekend with a mark of 5:02.16 in the 1,500-meters.
Taylor will turn its focus to the NAIA National Championships held across the county in Marion, Indiana, beginning Wednesday, May 22.
