Fuhrmann Drops 27 in League Loss on the Road
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – Despite a dominant first 15 minutes, the Trojans could not hold onto the lead in a 76-65 loss in a Crossroads League action on the road against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Tuesday night.
Kaden Fuhrmann was electric leading the Trojans with 27 points in his first game after recording his 1,000th point in purple and grey. The junior guard added five rebounds, one assist, and one steal with no fouls and only one turnover.
Anton Webb recorded another double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds while stuffing the stat sheet. The junior transfer recorded three assists, two steals, and two blocks in addition to his double-double, showing his outstanding all-around game.
Taylor came out of the gates strong, with Fuhrmann slamming one home on the first possession. TU trailed 7-6 early but did not trail after going up 8-7 the entire half.
A one-point lead ballooned to 10 for the Trojans on an 11-2 run fueled by seven points from senior Gavin Yoon. A bucket by Webb pushed the lead to 33-21, which was the largest of the night for TU.
Unfortunately, the Cougars' offense came to life to ignite a 17-5 run to close the half, which knotted the game at 38 at the break.
MVNU (5-1, 1-1 CL) did not let halftime slow them down, scoring the first ten points after coming out of the locker room and eventually grabbing a sixteen-point lead less than ten minutes into the second half.
TU (4-5, 0-2 CL) mounted a late comeback to get within 66-60 but could get no closer as the Cougars drained their free throws and Taylor missed four of its final five shots.
Taylor will have an extended Thanksgiving break before getting back on the hardwood on Saturday, December 2, inside Odle Arena to face off with Marian (5-2, 0-2 CL) at 3:00 pm.
