UPLAND, Ind. – The 2024 CSC Academic All-District Softball Teams were announced yesterday afternoon, in which five Trojans were honored.
Aleyah Rastetter, Jersey Tannehill, Mackenzie Noah, Livie Lehmann, and Delaynee McCreary each received recognition as CSC Academic All-District recipients, with Taylor having the maximum five earn the award.
Rastetter picked up her third-consecutive CSC Academic All-District award this year after excelling in the classroom with a grade-point average of 3.94 in her studies of politics and law. The senior was also fantastic on the diamond during her final season in purple and gray. The Frankton, Indiana native finished in the career program top ten of almost every significant offensive category, including becoming the Taylor career leader in walks (80), games played (225), and games started (221) while being named Second-Team All-Crossroads League for a third time in her illustrious career.
Tannehill received the honor for a third consecutive season after turning in a GPA of 3.96 in her accounting courses. The senior was a steady sight at first base, playing great defense her entire career and continually improving offensively. Tannehill had her best offense season during her final go-around, hitting .270, with a .361 on-base percentage and .340 slugging percentage. Tannehill delivered her first career home run in an 8-2 victory over Goshen to dead center.
Noah collected the award for her second straight season after earning a GPA of 3.78 in her exercise science studies. The junior tied for a team-high 12 wins inside the circle while notching her first career save. Noah climbed into the top ten in program history in many career pitching categories, including wins, games started, and innings pitched.
Lehmann has earned a 3.78 GPA in her sport management courseload. Lehmann has been brilliant in her first two seasons in purple and gray, earning First-Team All-Crossroads League honors in both seasons. Lehmann was also named the Newcomer of the Year in her debut campaign. Lehmann has hit over 20 doubles and eight home runs each season while striking out less and walking more in her sophomore campaign.
McCreary posted a GPA of 3.86 throughout her human physiology and preventative medicine classes. The sophomore has been a two-year starter for the Trojans, splitting time behind the plate a year ago before moving to the outfield full-time this season. The North Vernon, Indiana native has smashed 20 doubles and seven long balls in her two years at Taylor while swiping 21 bases.
The CSC Academic All-District distinction is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements, both in the classroom and on the court. To receive the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have achieved sophomore status academically with at least one full year at their current institution, and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season. Each University is limited to nominating five players for the award.
Student-athletes are nominated for the award by their institution's Sports Information Department and receive CSC Academic All-District honors if they meet the qualifications.
A select number of CSC Academic All-District winners advance to the Academic All-America ballot for sports information directors to vote on, with Rastetter, Tannehill, and Lehmann among those advancing. The CSC Academic All-Americans will be announced on Tuesday, June 18.
