Bio
Head women's soccer coach Scott Stan is in his 17th year as the leader of the Trojan women’s soccer program.
Stan has amassed a 250-157-44 record in 24 years at the collegiate level and a record of 430-227-64 overall across all different levels of the sport. While at the helm at Taylor, Stan has a 169-96-30 record, placing him No. 1 all-time in head-coaching wins in the program. Additionally, the Trojans have 11 double-digit win campaigns under his tutelage. Stan holds a 66-59-15 record in Crossroads League play during his tenure with TU.
Stan has coached three players at Taylor who have continued to play after college for the following clubs: Charlotte Eagles in North Carolina, Newcastle United in England, and Fjardabyggd and Breidablik in Iceland.
A 24-year veteran at the collegiate level, Stan was named Heartland Athletic Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year in three of his eight seasons at Manchester University. During his stint at Manchester, Stan led the Spartans to the NCAA Division III National Tournament twice.
Stan has also served as an assistant coach with the Chicago Gaels professional team and has also been affiliated with USA Athletes International, coaching nine different U.S. teams in Australia, Peru, Italy and Costa Rica.
Back at Taylor, Stan was named the Crossroads League Coach of the Year in 2016 after guiding the Trojans to a program-best 14-2-1 record and a national ranking of No. 24, while finishing the season ranked No. 18 nationally in the RPI poll.
During the 2022 season, Stan’s Trojans reached the NAIA Tournament for the second time in program history following a 13-win campaign. Taylor opened the season 8-0 and posted the program’s longest unbeaten streak (10 games). On Sept. 8, in the midst of the team’s historic unbeaten streak, Stan notched his 150th career win in a 3-0 victory over The Master’s.
Stan’s leadership as a coach extends beyond performance on the field into excellence in the classroom as well. In 2021, the Trojan women’s soccer team led the NAIA with four CoSIDA Academic All-District awards. His team built on that feat in 2022, when 16 of his players collected NAIA Scholar Athlete Awards.
Furthermore, Stan has led four soccer mission trips at Taylor. In 2010, the women traveled to South Africa during the FIFA World Cup, where the team ministered through clinics and games. In the summer of 2013 and in January 2017, the Trojans took similar trips to Costa Rica, working with school children at soccer clinics and sharing testimonies after games. In 2021, the team travelled to Rehoboth Christian School in New Mexico which primarily serves the local Navajo population.
Picking up soccer as a five-year-old in England, Stan continued his soccer playing career in high school, and later became the all-time leading scorer at Trinity Christian College with 86 goals in 72 matches. Stan was a three-time NCCAA All-American and was later honored by being inducted into the TCC Athletic Hall of Fame.
Stan's wife, Patricia, is a member of Taylor's faculty in the chemistry department.
