Women's Tennis Picks-up Win over Cedarville

UPLAND, Ind. – The TU women's tennis team went 1-1 on a dual-match day by falling to Grace College 5-4 before rallying to defeat Cedarville University 5-4. The 1-1 result moves TU's overall record to 7-4 and their league mark to 5-3.

In the opener, TU fell to GC by a slim 5-4 margin. Taylor picked up two wins in doubles but surrendered four of the six singles matches to come up on the wrong side of the one-match decision. It was Courtney Clark and Taelor Grose in No. 2 doubles and Julianna Hotmire and Corinne Hoffman in No. 3 doubles who landed the first two wins. In singles, Alexa Kling and Hoffman were winners in the No. 2 and No. 6 singles slots.

In the nightcap with an uncommon lineup, the Trojans recorded their seventh win of the campaign by downing NCAA DII Cedarville. Opposite of the opener, TU fell behind 2-1 after Kling and Clark were the only duo pair to record a win. In singles, TU came from behind and won four of the final six matches to secure the win. Molly Fletchall, Katelyn Gray, Hoffman, and Hotmire were all winners for the purple and gold.

"We had two great matches today," commented Coach Jon Wegener. "The ladies fought hard and had some very good quality matches. We're looking forward to getting some rest and closing the regular season well next week."

The Trojans will jump into their final week of action of the regular season. The week will hold a league clash with Goshen College on Tuesday followed by a non-league meeting against Indiana Tech on Saturday.
