Taylor Closes Season with Loss to Aquinas
MARION, Ind. – The Taylor women's tennis team put the final stamp on the 2018-19 season by facing Aquinas at the IWU Tournament. The Trojans fell to the Saints 5-0 and finished their campaign with a record of 11-7.
"Today, we faced a good Aquinas team with a lot of tight matches. I'm proud of our ladies for never giving up," commented Coach Jon Wegener. "I'm especially thankful for our seniors for all they have given to our team," he added. "They have been a great example for the younger players, and today those younger players showed their fighting spirit."
Taylor put together a handful of competitive matches but were unable to put any of the five matches away. In No. 1 doubles, Molly Fletchall and Alexa Kling battled to an 8-6 decision while teammates Courtney Clark and Mikayla Schultz finished their No. 2 doubles match on the wrong side of the 8-4 final.
After falling behind 3-0 in doubles, the match was put away when AQ took wins in the No. 2 and No 4 singles contests to seal the win.
The Trojans will return to action in the fall of 2019.
