
Gamble Earns All-American Honors in the 10,000-Meters

MARION, Ind. – The Taylor women's track team began competition at the NAIA National Championships on Wednesday, where Mollie Gamble finished the day's action in the 10,000-meters with an All-American performance.
Gamble had an incredible race in the 10,000-meters, running near the leaders throughout the entire race. Gamble was in the top eight the entire race and sped past two runners in the final two miles to finish sixth and earn NAIA All-American Honors. Gamble clocked a time of 36:51.23 amidst cold weather and howling winds in an impressive display.
Another late event saw two Trojans compete in the steeplechase, both running in the second heat. Ahna VanderWall qualified for the finals on Friday with a second-place finish, timing out at 10:49.32, which was second-best in the prelims. Lynae Ackley also finished with a time of 11:25.43.
Emma Muterspaw was the final Taylor athlete to advance to the finals in her event on Wednesday. The Junior ran in the 1,500-meters prelims and qualified for the final on Friday with a time of 4:44.22.
The women had two relay teams run on Wednesday, with the 4x100-meter relay and 4x800-meter relay stepping onto the track. The team of Patience Sakeuh, Audrey Altum, Kiana Siefert, and D'Arjha Davis put up a season-best time of 47.34, which was .3 seconds shy of tying the program record. The group of Brooke Studnicki, Emily Johnson, Kaitlin Burden, and Muterspaw came up just short of qualifying for the finals tomorrow with a time of 9:21.54.
Sakeuh, Altum, and Siefert will compete tomorrow in the 100-meter hurdles prelims, while Muterspaw and VanderWall will wait until Friday to compete in the finals of their respective events.
