MUNCIE, Ind. – The Taylor women's track and field program continued its outdoor season, participating in the We Fly Challenge at Ball State over the weekend.
Ashley Hall continued her outstanding senior year by smashing the program record in the 200-meters with an incredible time of 24.77 seconds, which also hit the NAIA B Standard. Hall ran in the 400-meters, 100-meters, and 4x100-meter relay in a long and successful day on the track.
D'Arjha Davis joined Hall in hitting the NAIA B Standard in the 200-meters with a time of 24.79 seconds. Davis also carded a time of 12.12 seconds in the 100-meters for a tenth-place finish out of 61 competitors.
The 4x100-meter relay team finished fifth but defeated all other NAIA schools in the event with a time of 47.63, which was three-hundredths of a second off of their time a week ago.
Close calls to qualify were a common theme for the Trojans as Hall missed the NAIA B Standard in the 400-meters by eight hundredths as she finished seventh of 48 competitors. Kiana Siefert had an outstanding showing in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing eighth of 43 runners with a time of 14.66 seconds, which was sixth hundredths of a second shy of hitting NAIA B Standard.
Siefert had a solid showing in the long jump recording a distance of 5.61 meters to place eighth out of 37 athletes and fourth of 16 athletes from the NAIA.
Noel VanderWall and Abby Mays notched third-place finishes in their events, the 1,500-meters, and 800-meters respectively. VanderWall clocked a time of 4:36.99 while Mays crossed the line at 2:16.50, exactly half a second off of the NAIA B Standard.
