JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week for Sept. 23-29 on Monday, and Jaynie Halterman claimed the women's cross country honor for the second time through just two races in her career.
Halterman ran the Taylor women's first sub-21:00 time for a 6,000-meter race in program history en route to winning the Mizzou Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 27 by 27.0 seconds.
The freshman's victory and blazing finish in 20:56.7 propelled TU to its record-setting team time of 1:48:40.9, which outpaced all other NAIA teams at the event by over two and-a-half minutes.
Halterman and the Trojans (43-1) look to continue their success when they host the Ray Bullock Invitational on Oct. 11, beginning at 4 p.m.
